The rapidly growing technology trends in automotive technology are getting more complex every day. Such technology growth markets like artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and robotics are finding their way into the auto industry and our cars and trucks.
There are a number of solutions these advancements are offering the industry. The internet of things is offering self-driving cars, artificial intelligence is offering cars an ecosystem all their own. This essentially gives the car a “personality.”
The technology helps manage fleets and other smaller EVs, like city bikes and scooters.
The names are well known, and easy to see yet somewhat complex to understand, here are some of the biggest technological trends.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence or simply AI will help drivers to improve safety. These advancements are similar to street lights that come on automatically. The Toyota Tundra lights up automatically at dusk, or in a tunnel. Headlights can dim sensing oncoming cars. AI controls the beam of light coming from the car and this helps improve the driver’s vision and road safety.
Biometric Seat Capabilities
Biometrics are areas where body inference is measured, from actions or reactions on the skin and limbs, to face and temperature. The Biometric seat takes information gathered from the face and palms and infers anxiety levels and advised when the driver should take a break. The biometrics can tell fatigue, from alertness, in order to enhance safety.

Big Data
Analytics help top makes data-driven decisions and inferences during the vehicle’s lifecycle. In many ways, data can predict when maintenance is necessary, alert authorities to crashes and emergencies on the road, and provide a great deal of real-time data for fleet managers.
In the automotive marketplace, big data can optimize supply chains, predict motor vehicle sales and improve designs and development strategies. Analytics is often used to streamline automobile sales operations at the manufacturer and the dealership levels and help to increase profitability.
3D Printing in Manufacturing Vehicles
This sector is growing rapidly in many ways and so far this technology is being used for prototyping vehicle designs. It accelerated the time to market and helps in speeding up the production and testing of new model vehicles.
Autonomous Vehicles
This trend is also commonly known as self-driving cars. Self-driving cars are trying to transform transportation in many ways. It increases safety while reducing the overall number of drivers on the road. Fewer drivers mean fewer accidents, fewer injuries, less driver fatigue, and an overall decrease in negligence and aggressive driving.
Advanced systems, like computer vision and pedestrian behavior prediction, are some of the standard fares in autonomous vehicles. Some of the many ways this helps on the road are avoiding obstacles, movements of pedestrians, and predicting leg and eye movement.
Other trends include
- Shared Mobility
- Connectivity
- Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
- IoT
- Auto Liftgate
- Electric Vehicles
