iWave has launched its solderable i.MX 8X Lite LGA SoM named the iW-RainbowW-G46M. The module is built on the OSM 1.0 Standard on a 30 x 30mm form factor board, with provisioning 332 contacts. The module is aimed at the automotive and transportation industry. Both industries are seeing great growth at this time.
The iW-Rainbow-G46M is the first SoM to include i.MX processor with on-chip V2X accelerator, while also being integrated with V2X Optimized High Security Module (HSM) and the Secure Hardware Extension (SHE). The i.MX 8XLite is up to all safety and performance requirements for Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication (V@V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) processes and solutions.
The OSM Standard is the system standard for a system-on-module to be soldered onto the carrier board, as a solder-on module LGA package, replacing the board-to-board connectors. The design offers advantages in the areas of resistance to vibration, small form factor offering the smallest pin to area ratio, as well as provisioning for scalability.
The iW-Rainbow-G46M SoM has high-speed interfaces that include, Ethernet, PCIe Gen3, USB 2.0, and CAN Ports. i.MX 8XLite is designed for industrial, control, and connectivity applications. The processor has 2 X Cortex A-35 cores and 1 x Cortex M4 core. The cores provide the low latency processing and data transmission required in IoT and AI applications. The i.MX 8XLite is available as a single core or dual-core variations.
Ahmed Shameem M H, Hardware Project lead at iWave Systems has said of the iW-Rainbow-G46M, “ Integrating the powerful NXP i.MX 8XLite application processor in the solderable system on module form factor of the recent OSM Standard, the SoM can be a building block for compact connectivity devices. The AEC grade module is power-efficient and easily upgradable to power next-generation of connected mobility and smart city solutions.”
iWave also offers and development kit, to help users accelerate their development and evaluation cycles. Both the SoM and development kit are application ready and integrated with the software drivers and BSPs, with software support for Linus, Ubuntu, and even Android.
