InnoPhase IoT Talaria 6
Written by Kirsten Campbell

Addressing the evolving needs of the IoT market, the family integrates multi-protocol wireless connectivity supporting Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, Thread and Zigbee, while providing enhanced PSA Level 2 and Level 3 security and a high-performance ARM Cortex M33. Extending the low power leadership of the proven Talaria platform, these next-generation products offer robust performance, energy efficiency, enhanced security, Edge artificial intelligence (AI) processing and advanced connectivity for IoT devices.

Target markets include smart home, building automation, industrial IoT and health/medical segments, and key applications span video cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats, lighting, environmental and vibration sensors, appliances, health and medical devices, hubs/gateways, and Matter bridge routers.

“The diversity of consumer, commercial, and industrial IoT applications increasingly requires flexible Wi-Fi SoCs that can more effectively address the power, range, latency, reliability, throughput, and security requirements of a growing number of heterogeneous IoT devices,” said Andrew Zignani, senior research director, ABI Research. “InnoPhase IoT’s combination of Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth and 802.15.4 on a single multi-protocol SoC can enable higher performance devices, streamline deployment and interoperability, create innovative new features, user experiences, and valuable new services, alongside reducing design complexity and time to market. Such solutions will be critical in enabling the installed base of connected devices to reach nearly 88 billion by 2028.”

Talaria 6 key features and benefits:

  • Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) ready with ultra-low power (ULP) and high-performance optimizations: Provides robust throughput even in noisy and high-density environments. Based on its integrated digital CMOS radio technology, Talaria 6 ensures energy-efficient, reliable and high-performance connectivity for applications such as smart thermostats, video cameras and environmental sensors.
  • Single and dual-band options (2.4 GHz/5 GHz): The flexibility allows improved range, throughput, and connection stability, especially in environments with high device density and/or interference. The option to select the band based on the use case and congestion levels allows IoT devices to operate seamlessly.
  • Multi-protocol support, including Bluetooth 6.0 and Bluetooth Classic, Thread and Zigbee Mesh Networks: Seamless integration and interoperability with a wide array of existing and future IoT devices make Talaria 6 an ideal choice for applications requiring diverse low-power connectivity options. Use cases can range from localization, proximity awareness and music streaming for audio devices, to wearables and home automation systems.
  • Integrated high performance ARM Cortex-M33 MCU with comprehensive peripheral support: Provides the necessary computational power for real-time processing of Edge AI tasks like predictive maintenance, sensor analytics and smart power management directly on the device. This integration simplifies design and reduces system costs and space by combining wireless connectivity and applications processing in a single chip.
  • PSA Level 2/Level 3 security: Ensures robust protection against cybersecurity threats with hardware-based encryption, secure boot and tamper resistance to safeguard sensitive data and meet the enhanced security demands of IoT devices, making Talaria 6 an ideal solution for mission-critical applications in healthcare, industrial IoT and smart home environments.
  • 802.11be extensions and multi-link operations (MLO): Offers improved throughput, lower latency and higher reliability in congested environments by utilizing multiple links to boost network performance; ideal for high-demand applications like video cameras, smart locks and thermostats.
  • Market-ready vertical stack solutions: Accelerates development and time-to-market for new IoT products with a comprehensive SDK with integrated IDE and development tools, proven hardware designs, and global regulatory and industry standards certifications. Talaria 6 leverages the Talaria platform’s rich IoT partner ecosystem, including leading sensor, ISP and MCU suppliers, cloud service providers, and worldwide design partners.

“InnoPhase IoT has been elevating the IoT user experience by enabling the use of high bandwidth ubiquitous Wi-Fi in untethered, battery-based applications. Our suite of market-ready solutions, including provisioning and device management capabilities, has also addressed key developer and time-to-market challenges,” said Wiren Perera, President and COO of InnoPhase IoT. “Extending our Talaria platform with its digitally oriented RF architecture to Wi-Fi 6, provides a significant boost in throughput, range, and energy efficiency. Coupled with multi-protocol support, enhanced cybersecurity, and Edge AI capabilities, we are now unleashing a range of new applications with exceptional use cases.”
