Infineon HiRel DC-DC Converter Business is being Acquired by Micross

Written by Stephen Vicinanza

Infineon HiRel DC-DC converter business is being acquired by Micross Components Inc. The deal was made definitive on January 10, 2023, in an agreement to purchase the High-Reliability DC-DC converter business of Infineon Technologies, by Micross Components Inc.

Infineon has long been recognized for its high-reliability products in such industries as strategic defense, aerospace, space, and other industries requiring high-reliability DC-DC converters. They manufacture a wide range of power devices that can withstand the most challenging environments.

This is a move by Micross to bring into focus strategic priorities that complement the portfolio of technologies holdings that expand Micross’s power management offerings. The acquisition also entails the ownership of a wide array of intellectual properties.

The move is also going to expand Micross’s geographic footprint in both the United States and Europe. Additionally adding to the company’s presence in high-growth markets. The positioning will help the company grow in the future.

Micross is a portfolio company of Behrman Capital, and the acquisition is that firm’s eighth and the fourth after the formation of a continuation fund transaction in February of 2022. This deal continues to build on the company’s portfolio of rising technology companies.

Simon Lonergan, the Managing Partner of Behrman Capital, said, “This acquisition represents an extremely strong strategic fit for Micross, as the Company continues to build out its high-reliability product portfolio to better serve its customer base. Adding Infineon’s DC-DC converter Business to Micross’ platform further differentiates and adds significant IP to the Company’s leading position as a one-stop source of supply for high-reliability electronic products and services. We look forward to continuing to work with management to identify additional opportunities to drive growth at Micross.”

The acquisition brings significant proprietary IP around power management, combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities and a product portfolio that is a market leader for the advancement of innovative solutions. We will be better positioned to produce an even wider range of high-quality products for our customers.
