GaN Systems produces Gallium Nitride power transistors, it announced their high volume, low current GaN transistors have now tumbled to below a single dollar.
This type of transistor is used in many consumer and industrial applications, including GaN chargers, AC adapters for smartphones, and laptop battery and power applications.
Many consumer, enterprise, and industrial market customers now increasing manufacturing and production GaN systems see further reductions in prices.
While GaN’s advantages include reductions in system costs, improved power density, and power efficiency, many power system manufacturers have waited on utilizing the GaN transistors. They were waiting for the GaN products to reach silicon pricing in order to start implementing the GaN transistors.
A good example of a GaN portfolio entry, in the low-power GaN transistor lines, is the GS61004B. A 100V enhancement-mode GaN Transistor.
The GS61004B is a GaN-on-silicon power transistor. The properties of the transistor allow for high current, high voltage breakdown, and high switching frequency. The GaN GS61004B has innovative Island Technology. This technology cell layout realizes high-current die and high yield. The GaNPX packaging enables low- inductance and low thermal resistance in a small package.
