Digi Expands MP1 Family of SoMs Aiming for the Medical, Smart Energy and Industrial Sectors.

Written by Stephen Vicinanza

Digi expands the MP1 family of SoMs aiming for the medical, smart energy, and industrial sectors. Digi integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wired connectivity while maintaining flexibility in the CopnnectCore MP13 low-profile wireless module.

The system on module (SoM) is designed as a wireless, compact, and secure system, based on the STM32MP133C MPU from STMicroelectronics. It is the industries smallest SOM utilizing Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. The family delivers a cost effect group of SoMs that remain flexible and reliable for connectivity across Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).

The designs are aimed at Internet of Things development in medical, smart energy, and industrial industries. The systems come with several Digi frameworks and supports. The Digi TrustFence and the Embedded Yocto Linux software support.

The company has said its Digi ConnectCore MP13 SoMs eliminate implementation barriers and offer exceptional design flexibility for all types of applications, whether simple or complex. This is due in large part to the Digi SMTplus surface-mount form factor (29x29mm).

Device development that can be utilized across IoT lines includes:

  • Medical devices
  • industrial gateways
  • environmental test equipment
  • renewable energy controllers
  • EV charging stations

“We are delighted to expand the Digi ConnectCore MP1 family of SOMs and continue our commitment to providing off-the-shelf, wireless-enabled solutions suitable for a broad range of applications,” said Andreas Burghart, Senior Product Manager at Digi. “Designed for longevity, scalability, and demanding 10+ year product lifecycles, Digi ConnectCore MP13 is a well-suited addition to our complete ecosystem of hardware, software, and services that help manufacturers successfully develop and maintain connected products.”
