About the Role:
The Editor-in-Chief will be a highly motivated and experienced professional with an understanding of the embedded electronics industry. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, editorial vision, and communication skills to oversee the aspects of the magazine’s content and publication. The ideal candidate will be able to foster a collaborative environment while maintaining the highest standards of editorial excellence.
Responsibilities:
Editorial Leadership: Oversee the magazine’s editorial content, including article selection, commissioning, writing, editing, and proofreading. This includes working with editors, writers, and other contributors.
Content Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive editorial strategy aligned with Circuit Cellar‘s brand identity and target audience. This includes identifying emerging trends, identifying suitable topics, and developing a content calendar.
Author Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with authors, experts, and industry professionals to secure high-quality articles and contributions.
Technical Expertise: Possesses a strong understanding of electronics engineering principles, embedded systems, and related technologies. The ability to review technical content for clarity is essential.
Collaboration: Work closely with team members, including sales, marketing, and production, to ensure seamless coordination and efficient workflow.
Quality Control: Maintain the highest standards of editorial quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the publication process.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Or the equivalent of industry immersion and knowledge.
• Understanding of electronics, embedded systems, and related technologies with a passion for keeping up with the latest tech.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Efficiency in Microsoft Word, including the application of styles.
Bonus Points:
• Understanding of Adobe InDesign
• Ability to use WordPress
• Familiarity/Active on related discussion boards
