Renesas RAA210130 is a fully PMBus-enabled step-down power supply. Renesas has developed a power supply that is capable of delivering up to 30A of current from a compact 10mm x 13mm x 7.8mm thermally enhanced BGA package.
The RAA210130 operates across an input voltage range of 4.75V to 15V. The power supply offers adjustable output voltages down to 0.45V with a 96% efficiency according to Renesas.
The power supply implements the Renesas digital synthetic current modulation scheme to achieve a combination of transient response, efficiency across a full load range and ease of tuning. With only a few external components, simple configuration, and robust fault management makes implementing a high-performance regulator easier than before.
The use of a standard PMBus interface with PMBus V1.3 capability facilitates device configuration and aids in these areas of development: sequencing and fault management, real-time full telemetry and point of load monitoring, and detailed fault reporting. These features can be accessed through the PowerNavigator software tool from Renesas.
The company is adding that there are a number of suitable applications for the power supply that include:
- Server
- Telecomm
- Storage
- Data communications
- Industrial/ATE
- Networking equipment
- ASIC, FPGA, DSP, and memory
