Triple-Output Power Supplies Feature Modern Interfaces

Keysight Technologies has announced the introduction of the E36300 Series triple-output programmable DC power supplies. With a large color display, intuitive user interface, modern device connections via LAN (LXI, USB and optional GPIB), the E36300 matches the performance of more expensive system power supplies. The E36300 Series’ low “normal mode” noise specifications assure quality power for precision circuitry applications, enabling engineers to power their designs with confidence. In addition, the power supplies are acoustically quiet. Each model provides excellent line/load regulation of 0.01 percent, fast transient response time of less than 50 ms, low-range current measurement, and over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection to prevent damage to the device under test.

New Software to Obtain Measurement Results without MIPI or Arbitrary Waveform Generator Expertise

Keysight Technologies recently announced introduced a software plug-in for the M8070A system software for M8000 Series BER test solutions. The M8085A MIPI C-PHY receiver test solution is designed for conformance and margin tests.Keysight-M8085

The MIPI C-PHY 1.0 standard supports camera and display applications. The standard comprises multilevel non-NRZ non-differential signaling. The Keysight M8190A arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) is the right instrument to generate such signals. The M8085A easy-to-use editor option enables you to set up the parameters and pattern content of test signals for turn-on and debug interactively from the GUI in familiar, application terms. During parameter adjustments, the software controls the AWG hardware to maintain uninterrupted signal generation.

In addition, the M8085A software provides the industry’s first complete and standard-conformant routines for calibration of signal parameters and physical layer (PHY) receiver tests. Thus, you can achieve results without expertise in the MIPI standard or with arbitrary waveform generators.

The software plug-in provides several options for selecting the error-detecting device. You can connect to the built-in detector in the device under test via the IBERReader interface, which transfers the test result to the M8085A software and displays the result in the GUI. Plus, it enables fully automated unattended tests.

AcqirisMAQS Software Simplifies Multichannel Data Acquisition Systems

Keysight Technologies recently announced a new version of its U1092A AcqirisMAQS Multichannel Acquisition Software. AcqirisMAQS software enables configuration management as well as visualization of data for hundreds of channels from a single console. The client-server architecture supports remote operation, making it possible for the data acquisition system to be distributed over a LAN. Keysight-AcqirisMAQS

A fully configurable GUI enables you to easily select instruments and measurement channels for the configuration of the acquisition parameters. Acquired data is presented in multiple display windows. Each window is fully configurable, including the selection of the number of plot areas and axes. Additional display functions provide multi-record overlay, persistence, frequency spectrum, and scalar computations on each trace. A special option for triggered single shot experiments adds an advanced configuration manager, digitizer memory protection locking and fail-safe operation.

Keysight’s multichannel digitizers contain all the timing and synchronization technologies needed to create synchronous sampling across tens or hundreds of channels at a time. For example, a reliable triggering and synchronization is essential to correctly recreate the event or process from captured data. The new version of the AcqirisMAQS multichannel acquisition software—including a 30-day free trial (evaluation mode)—is currently available now for the Keysight M9709A AXIe 8-bit high-speed digitizer as well as all the others Keysight high-speed digitizers. Power Analyzer with Touch-Driven Scope Visualization

Keysight Technologies recently introduced a power analyzer that combines accurate power measurements and touch-driven oscilloscope visualization capability in a single instrument. The IntegraVision power analyzer enables R&D engineers who are designing and testing electronic power conversion systems to access dynamic views of current, voltage, and power. Engineers working on electronic power conversion systems need high-accuracy measurements to identify and characterize incremental efficiency improvements in devices, such as power inverters or converters, universal power supplies, battery systems, vehicle and aircraft power systems, lighting systems/electronic ballasts and appliances. While some of today’s power analyzers offer adequate measurement accuracy, they are cumbersome to use and lack the ability to characterize power consumption under dynamic conditions. Previously, engineers needed a power analyzer to make accurate measurements and an oscilloscope to visualize repetitive and single-shot events such as turn-on and occurrences of transients. Eliminating a separate oscilloscope in the measurement setup decreases test complexity and reduces configuration time.

The Keysight IntegraVision power analyzers are ideal for R&D engineers who want to quickly and interactively measure AC and DC power consumption, power conversion efficiency, operational response to stimulus and common AC power parameters such as frequency, phase and harmonics—all with 0.05% basic accuracy and 16-bit resolution. The power analyzer enables engineers to characterize power consumption under highly dynamic conditions with 5-M samples per second digitizing speed and 2-MHz bandwidth.

The IntegraVision power analyzer allows engineers to address multiple test scenarios with the flexibility of wide-ranging, isolated inputs up to 1,000 VRMS (Cat II). The instruments offer external sensor inputs and 2-Arms and 50-Arms direct current inputs, standard on all channels. The external sensor input supports current probes and transducers up to 10-V full scale.

New Oscilloscopes with Capacitive Touch Screens, Zone Triggering

Keysight Technologies recently introduced the InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series digital-storage and mixed-signal oscilloscopes  with intuitive graphical triggering capability. This new oscilloscope series delivers capacitive touch screens and zone triggering to the mainstream oscilloscope market for the first time. The scopes help engineers overcome usability and triggering challenges and improve their problem-solving capability and productivity.

As digital speeds and device complexity continue to increase, signals under test are getting more complex, and engineers are more challenged to isolate anomalies in their devices. Intuitive graphical triggers, previously unavailable in mainstream oscilloscopes, help engineers debug and characterize their cutting-edge devices faster and more easily. The new oscilloscope series offers upgradable bandwidths from 100 MHz to 1.0 GHz and several benchmark features in addition to the touch screen interface and graphical zone triggering capability. An uncompromised update rate of one million waveforms per second gives engineers visibility into subtle signal details. The series comes with six-instruments-in-one integration, including oscilloscope functionality, digital channels (MSO), protocol analysis capability, a digital voltmeter, a WaveGen function/arbitrary waveform generator, and an eight-digit hardware counter/totalizer. Finally, the 3000T X-Series delivers correlated frequency and time domain measurements using the gated FFT function for the first time in this class, to address emerging measurement challenges.

The 3000T X-Series supports a wide range of popular and emerging serial bus applications: MIL-STD 1553 and ARINC 429, I2S, CAN/CAN-FD/CAN-Symbolic, LIN, SENT, FlexRay, RS232/422/485/UART and I2C/SPI. The new gated FFT function allows engineers to correlate time and frequency domain phenomenon on a single screen. User-Extensible FDA for Real-Time Oscilloscopes

Keysight Technologies recently announced the availability of a frequency domain analysis (FDA) option, a user-extensible spectrum frequency domain analysis application solution for real-time oscilloscopes.

The FDA option extends the capabilities of Keysight Infiniium and InfiniiVision Series oscilloscopes by enabling you to acquire live signals from the oscilloscope and visualize them in the frequency domain, as well as make key frequency domain measurements.

Option N8832A-001 includes the application, the application source code for user extensibility, and MATLAB software. These tools enable you to extend an application’s capabilities to meet their current and future testing needs.

With the FDA application, you can address a variety of FDA challenges such as:

  • Power spectral density (PSD) and spectrogram visualization
  • Frequency domain measurements in an application including relevant peaks in the PSD and measurements such as occupied bandwidth, SNR, total harmonic distortion (THD ), spurious free dynamic range (SFDR), and frequency error
  • Oscilloscope configuration through the application to allow for repeatable instrument configuration and measurements; optionally includes additional SCPI commands for more advanced instrument setup
  • Insertion of additional custom signal processing commands prior to frequency domain visualization, as needed, for more advanced analysis insight
  • Live or post-acquisition analysis of time-domain data in MATLAB software
