Handheld Pollen Sensor

The compact, handheld Pollen Sensor design is used to detect high concentrations of pollen. It uses an LED to flood a sensing area with light, a large area detector to pick up the fluorescence, and an optical band-pass filter to pass fluorescence wavelength (green) and reject the LED wavelength (violet). Two PWMs in the LM3S9B96 CPU are used. The project uses SafeRTOS to improve the processor’s ability to track and report the level of real-time particle pulses.
